VI. Interviews

This part is based on the following book:

Daniel Compère and Jean-Michel Margot : Entretiens avec Jules Verne 1873-1905. Genève, Slatkine, 1998, 275 pp (see SFS26 #78 [July 1999]:334-336).

These are true interviews, made by journalists and visitors meeting Verne in Amiens, mainly at his home or sometimes on the street, at the railway station or at the “Societe industrielle”. We do not reference second hand or imaginary interviews.

Most of the interviews can be localized with precision in magazines or newspapers. Few of them were found without (or with less) information about their origin. For example, a German interview was cut out of a German newspaper and found in a German old Verne edition bought in Basel (Switzerland).

This list is not complete and will never be. Discoveries of unknown interviews can happen any time. If anybody makes such a discovery, we would be gratefull for any information about it.

This part contains seven sections:

  1. On board of the “Saint-Michel”
  2. Around the world with Nellie Bly
  3. Jules Verne at home
  4. Around the world with Gaston Stiegler
  5. The last and prolific years
  6. A good bye
