In the words of the Author/Builder:

The nautilus is a model built from a design in 'R/C Ship Modelling,'  Vol 1, Number 1, 1993. It is an attempt at a realistic rendition of the Nautilus from Verne’s book, as opposed to the Hollywood Movie. The plan was chosen because it is functional, and because it is one of the few non combative submarine models that can be built.
